CUBS PROSPECTS SHINE ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE ACTION

MESA, Ariz – Today’s contest features the Scorpions vs the Mesa Solar Sox played at Sloan Park. The Scottsdale roster consists of prospects from the following teams, Mets, Yankees, Giants, Angels, Reds, and Mesa’s roster features prospects from Athletics, Nationals, Cubs, Tigers, Astros.

As a team, it was the Solar Sox winning the game 9-4 over the Scorpions.

Today’s focus was on prospects for the Chicago Cubs. David Bote a second baseman, Ian Rice a catcher, and Jason Vosler a first baseman.

Bote had the better day of the trio going 3-for-4 with 3 RBI, and his first home run of the Arizona Fall League (AFL). His home run came in the sixth inning off Scottsdale”s Adam Hofacket, who also was tagged with the loss in the game.

On defense, Bote was in the middle of two double plays (6-4-3) turned on the day. Clearly, his arm and glove came to play as well.

Rice, playing as the designated hitter today, went 1-for-3 with a RBI. His hit was a double off of Albert Abreu.

Then the final of the trio, Jason Vosler went 0-for-4 on the day, however, did have a RBI.

Both Bote and Vosler were drafted in 2014 in the 16th round. Rice was drafted the following year in 2015 in the 29th round. This is their first action in the AFL.
